Fungas

FUNGAS: a musical ensemble based in the Awabakal lands of Newcastle, Australia. Unfurling chaotic energy and deep grooves, they play with guitar tones, samplers, synthesizers and lots of delay. This purge of punk-energy is showcased on stage and throughout the airwaves of their recorded music, with the band constantly toying with fresh and stylistic songwriting, freak rhythms and tones. FUNGAS’ take on sound combines influences and stylistic choices likened to garage, art, new wave, avant, psychedelic, kraut and punk artists. Since their unveiling, Fungas created their first 2 LPs; 2022’s apocalyptic punk debut “LOCATE 0” and the next year's psychedelic avant nostalgia trip “WHAT WAS WILL BE”. The latter was promoted extensively along the east coast leading to 2023 being their biggest year yet. Highlights including a 15 run headline tour, 3 festival appearances including Gold Coast's “SPACED OUT FESTIVAL”, and supporting slots for HOCKEY DAD, SKEGGS and BATTLESNAKE.
