James Reynold

James Reynold is a self-professed Bohemian Wannabe. Having spent his formative years writing and performing guitar in-and-out of various hardcore bands, Reynold’s background doesn’t exactly constitute that of your typical songwriter. Despite numerous, defeating attempts to find some semblance of his own voice, it wasn’t until January 2018 when a wayward, misguided month abroad culminated in his first, truly original body of work, ‘Goodbye Hobart’. Here the emphasis is as much on the notion of a debut songwriting endeavour as it is an early exercise in bedroom production. Thoughtful and colourful arrangements juxtapose stark, momentary lyricism as Reynold unapologetically portrays his own personal and artistic insecurities. Conjured from a time of conflict with escapism and depression, ‘Goodbye Hobart’ encompasses confessional music in the literal sense of the word.
